Close Markets for Cruel Seal Products!
Since 1995, the Canadian sealing industry has worked to develop and market new seal products. While most of these have flopped in the retail market, there are a few items that have made it on to Canadian store shelves. Please work with us to close the markets for seal products.
If you find any of the following items in your local stores, we can help you to organize a campaign to get it off the shelves. And if you come across a seal product not listed here, please let us know immediately.
Seal Oil
Seal oil is sold as a supplement for Omega 3 fatty acids. It enters a market already crowded with alternatives that have been in stores for years, including flax seed oil. Regardless, some health food stores and pharmacies have chosen to market seal oil, and the following brand names may be found in some Canadian stores:
Omegavite
Terra Nova
Omegagold
Arctic Omega
Wild Sea
Omegalife
Sealskin
Sealskin is flat, coarse, heavy and difficult to turn into wearable garments. It is therefore not a
widely used product in the fur industry. However, it has occasionally appeared in stores in Canada.
Consumers should watch for sealskin products including jackets, trim, handbags, gloves, hats and boots.
Pajar, a Canadian footware manufacturer, sells sealskin boots that have been spotted in Canadian stores such as Terra Firma. Visit their site and send a letter of complaint. Let us know if you see Pajar sealskin boots on store shelves.
