Since 1995, the Liberal Party of Canada has actively worked to increase the number of seals slaughtered in this country. This despite the fact that 85% of Canadians believe that seals under a year of age should be protected from any hunting at all. Through taxpayer funded government subsidies, high quotas and lack of enforcement of regulations, the Liberals have helped this slaughter grow to its current historic levels. Recently, the Canadian Minister of Fisheries and Oceans authorized the slaughter of more than a million seals over a three year period - the highest quota in history.
