Campaigner

Position Objective:

To manage and coordinate Global Action Network campaign work.

Term of Employment:

Full-time, 6 month contract with the potential for renewal.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

Communicate with the public, media and government regarding GAN campaigns and issues.
Research and produce literature, reports and web content related to GAN campaigns.
Coordinate and manage a campaign plan and an agenda for the specific campaigns assigned.
Organize tabling, events, demonstrations, lectures etc. to promote GAN campaign objectives.
Assist volunteers and the public to become integrated with GAN campaigns in a meaningful way.
Represent GAN's campaigns to the media via interviews, press conferences and press releases.

Qualifications:

Previous activist experience required.
Bilingual - written and spoken.
Good writing skills.
Outgoing and personable manner with exceptional communication skills.
Proven thorough knowledge of animal and environmental issues.
Ability to professionally advocate GAN's positions on issues.
Computer proficiency.
Commitment to the objectives of the organization.
Must have received EI or Welfare in the past 3 years, or be a recent graduate.

Communications & Website Coordinator

Duties:

Update and maintain organization website
Create original web pages and graphics
Capture digital photographs and video
Digital video editing
Produce monthly electronic newsletter
Coordinate communications initiatives with the media and the public

Qualifications:

Bilingual
Thorough knowledge of effective web and graphic design and proven experience with graphic and web software packages (PhotoShop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Premiere preferred).
Ability to produce exciting web pages, designs, and interactive elements.
Meticulous attention to detail.
Commitment to animal protection and environmental issues.
Must have received EI or Welfare in the past 3 years or be a recent graduate.
