Chez Philippe Bed & Breakfast in Montreal
Less than a 10-minute walk away from Papineau Metro station, and from there just a few stops away from Downtown Montreal, Chez Philippe is located in a trendy area brimming over with restaurants, clubs and shopping and has the distinction of being the one and only vegan bed & breakfast in Quebec. Chez Philippe is owned and operated by its namesake, Philippe Nicolitch, who decided to open a B&B after his 13-year career with Inter Continental Hotels & Resorts ended.
Chez Philippe has four bedrooms, each named after a fruit, and three of which have full or queen sized beds. The rooms are decorated with what are described as "minimalist urban furniture and bright colours." Particular attention has been paid to creating a vegan environment within the bedrooms and bathrooms. Guests won't find leather furniture, silk or wool bed coverings, pillows and duvets stuffed with feathers and down. Even the bathroom toiletries are animal product free. There are two shared bathrooms, one with a shower and the other with a bathtub. Environmentally friendly cleaning products are used throughout the establishment. A kitchenette is available for those wanting to make coffee or tea.
Gallic accented breakfast dishes feature vegan crepes, popular in Nicolitch ?s native France, where he trained as a chef. Other options include waffles, fruit puddings and fruit mousses and Fair-trade coffee and tea. Breakfasts are prepared using locally-grown seasonal organic fruit and vegetables. Allergies and special dietary requests (gluten-free, sugar-free, etc.) will be accommodated.
Chez Philippe rates start at $55 and include breakfast.
